Last night I went to bed at 10:30pm. I rang in the New Year in my bed.
Not my finest moment, that's for sure.
A 28 hour trip to Chicago will do that to you. But it was a fantastic 28 hour trip to Chicago.
This morning, I stayed in bed reading. I had brunch with my mom and then I went to church. I made a quick trip to Target and didn't buy anything...that's got to be some kind of record, right? I spent the afternoon watching movies and reading blogs and did a workout DVD...no running for me today. Marathon training starts tomorrow.
I love the New Year. I love the anticipation of looking forward to 12 months of achieving goals, making plans and using every single day as an opportunity to learn something new.
This year, I will turn 25. I will finish my Master's degree. I will start my career. I will run a sub-4 hour marathon. I will run 2 marathons. I will I will take chances and give everything I've got to everything I do.
I will keep traveling. I will try new things. I will eat at least one piece of fruit a day. I will continue to eat as much Nutella as I do now. I will make new friends and meet new people. I will have fun.

Whether you're making resolutions or not, whether you're looking forward to the New Year or not, I hope you take it as an opportunity to do something exciting. Take that trip you've always wanted to go on. Call someone you've lost touch with. Take chances. Don't have regrets. It's those chances that make your life the adventure you were meant to live...and it's those chances that make for the best blog posts.
Happy New Year!
I hope 2012 is everything you want it to be and more!

Sounds like you had a nice restful day, like me! Looking forward to reading about all of your 2012 adventures; knowing there's someone else out in the world who is turning 25, getting their masters, training for a big race, and just generally living their life to the fullest - is very reassuring. And yes, it is a rarity to walk out of Target unscathed!
ReplyDeletehappy new year, friend! looking forward to an awesome year!
