1. Marine Corps Marathon - I've calmed down a little bit since Friday in my itch to be part of the race. Mainly because I did some sets of straight dead leg lifts on Monday and my hamstrings are still recovering. In all seriousness though, I'm ok with not running the marathon. I'm still up in the air about the 10k but whether I'm running my least favorite distance race that morning or on the sidelines spectating, I'll be happy either way. This was the smart decision to make and I just need to keep that in mind amidst all of the race excitement.
2. Coffee - I am not one of those people who can't start the morning without a cup of coffee. More often than not, I drink coffee to keep warm than to wake up. Every once in awhile, I'll need that morning boost. On Monday, my coffee maker exploded. Literally. After brewing my morning cup, I went to turn it off and it went up in smoke, sending sparks flying everywhere. This was not only terrifying, but it has left me without a coffee maker.
Thankfully, I live in a building where I can get coffee before work if I need it, but I do need a replacement. I love brewing coffee and my little 4 cup coffee maker, but I'm the only one who uses. The Pilot doesn't drink coffee, but will occasionally drink tea. I have a tea kettle that I use for such occasions. I don't think I want something like the Keurig, but I'm wondering what kind of coffee makers everyone out there uses?
3. Blog Redesign - Thanks to the fabulous Sarah over at Venus Trapped in Mars and her Saturday Sessions, I'm in the process of redesigning my blog. I've had the same look for the last year or so and it's time for something fresh and new! I'm working on everything in a Test Blog but here's a little peak of what I'm working on!
So that's what's going on this Thursday! I hope you're all looking forward to the weekend as much as I am!

What are those Saturday Sessions you're talking about? I would love to practice designing my own site, but feel that it's so overwhelming I'm just not sure where to start. I love my design right now, but I'll probably want to change it at some point. I personally like coffee makers that have timers so I can set it for every morning and have it ready when I wake up. I like Cuisinart or Mr. Coffee brands. I'm sure you can find a smaller 4 cup maker.
ReplyDeleteI used a Mr. Coffee for a while and it always served me well. I think we're registered for a Cuisinart (and we currently have one) and it's good too. Just look up reviews online and get something at Target or Amazon!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture! I made one for my old blog but never made one for my new one. I'll have to think about doing one again. Can't wait to see the new look!
ReplyDeleteI love redesigns!! I've tweaked my blog a lot in the past year or two. Your about me graphic looks like a good start. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a Keurig that I got for my birthday last year and I love it! You can find good deals on them if you look hard enough, but they also have smaller versions out there now with just one setting that might be good for what you need it for. But that would have been a TERRIFYING experience for me!!! I can't imagine! I had both a curling iron and a hairdyer blow sparks at me last year in a hotel--the hair dryer wasn't even plugged in....not fun!
ReplyDeleteWell, now you can just cheer runners on during the race!! I want to do that someday for a marathon :)
I'm so excited to see the new blog design! I bet it's going to be fabulous!!
I love that you're designing your own blog! I wish I was that savvy.
ReplyDeleteI have a keurig, and I LOVE it. I got it on MAJOR sale last year on Black Friday.
Have you thought about a french press? If the Pilot drinks tea, then you likely have a kettle. It's a good option because it's small, low tech, inexpensive and it's dishwasher safe. You don't have to buy pods or anything and you can get a press that will make enough coffee for you without producing much waste. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about a french press? If the Pilot drinks tea then you likely have a tea kettle already. It's a low tech, inexpensive, small and dishwasher safe option. And it doesn't produce the waste that the pods do. They have them in all kinds of sizes based on how much coffee you drink, too. I love my french press so much that I sometimes travel with it!
ReplyDeleteFrench press? I don't really drink coffee, but my roommates swear by their french presses!
ReplyDeleteI have a Mr. Coffee - always love them as I am cheap and often do grounds, not K cups. But I gave my husband a Keurig last year and I use that at times. Overall I prefer my Mr. Coffee.
ReplyDeleteI love my Keurig but Molly just bought me a French press which is super easy and nice and compact. I'd vote French press, especially if it's just you drinking coffee.
ReplyDeleteLove you!
We have a keurig, but I'm kind of ambivalent about it. Donny still uses his regular coffeemaker that he's had FOREVER because the keurig doesn't make a serving big enough for him to take to work. I'm not a big coffee person, so I don't drink any. But good luck with your coffeemaker search!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the new design! Designing your own blog is awesome because you can change it whenever you want without having to spend any money. Plus, there are SO many tutorials out there that can help!
I didn't think I wanted a Keurig before my boyfriend got it for me last Christmas because I didn't think I could justify the cost, especially for the k-cup refills. However, I recently invested in a reusable k-cup filter ($17 at Bed, Bath and Beyond for a good one that's easy to clean) and love using it that way. Much easier to clean than a real coffeemaker. And I believe Keurig makes a smaller Mr. Coffee machine that's less than $100.
