I miss running.
There, I said it. I really miss running. I'm not as motivated to work out when I have to be creative in how I'm going to work out.
I've been working out 3x per week since starting PT which is all fine and dandy, but when I run, I usually work out 5-6 times per week and I don't hate it. So, I'm trying to get creative.
I still haven't started the Nike Training Club workouts I keep planning to start and after Wednesday's PT session, I didn't work out for the rest of the week.
*Sigh.*
Once again, I'm setting up a workout plan with the hopes of actually getting in all of these workouts. The lingering knee pain I had this weekend is leaving me less and less optimistic about my return to running. Until I started PT, my knee only hurt when I ran...now, it hurts when I walk. Lovely.
So, here's this week's plan:
Monday: Yogalates with Megan
Tuesday: NTC
Wednesday: Morning PT (pending snow) + Elliptical + NTC
Thursday: Power Walk on the Treadmill + NTC
Friday: Morning Yoga
Saturday: Spin with Logan
Sunday: Rest
So, this is where I need you guys. Help me stay accountable? Working out, even if it isn't running, will help me keep my fitness up so that when I do start running again, I'm not ridiculously out of shape and can actually try for the two races I'm signed up for in April!

What are your favorite ways to stay fit when you aren't running?
I swear, that yogalates class was on my calendar for yesterday, too!! Mind Your Body Oasis? I didn't end up going, though. I went to REI to get a new watch, instead.
ReplyDeleteSuper pumped for spin! If you keep doing other cardio, you'll still be on track for your races! Spinning, especially, carries over really well!
I definitely feel you. I always say I kind of hate working out but love to run...I just don't get the same mental and physical relief when I'm not running! I like that you're making a plan though! Meeting with friends should really help!
ReplyDeleteMine is biking. I also like swimming a lot and will use the elliptical. That is pretty much it.
ReplyDeleteI've been water running through my knee injury. It's the only thing that feels enough like running that I'm excited to do it instead of skipping workouts!
