Memorial Day has come and gone which means it's officially summer (regardless of what the solstice says) and time to break out the white pants!
Summer is by far my favorite season. I wish it was always summer. Heat? Yes. Humidity? I'll take it. I'd much rather an 87 and humid day than a 24 and humid. Those are the worst.
I never really have too much planned for the summer because I like to throw caution to the wind and welcome adventure. Nonetheless, I do have a few things planned for this summer, so here's a look at what I'm looking forward to!
1. Chicago Marathon Training - The race may not be until fall but training is half the fun, right? Chicago will be my first 26.2 in 3 years (thanks to my IT band woes) and I'm so pumped to really tackle some high mileage this summer and push myself in the way that marathon training does.
2. Baseball - It is May 29th and I still haven't been to a baseball game this season...I think this is the longest I've ever gone without going to a game. It's really upsetting but the Nationals are right around the corner, the Mets are always calling my name and I've got a goal to see 8 more ballparks in the next two baseball stadiums so there will be baseball!
3. Going to the Beach -With the exception of the two beach days we took while on our honeymoon, I haven't been to the beach since moving to DC almost 3 years ago. Call me naive but I didn't realize when I moved here that DC was so in land! It makes me love this city just a little bit less that the nearest beach is 2.5 hours away without traffic, but I'm hoping for some Summer Fridays and trips back home to get in some beach time! Maybe The Pilot and I will oops our way somewhere a little closer to the beach!
4. Weddings - We're going to two weddings this summer...they're both next month but I'm still excited to get my dance on and celebrate some awesome people.
5. Lisbon, Portugal - My mom and I are going to Portugal! We decided this in all of 2 days and I'm so excited! Hopefully, The Pilot can join us but we won't know that until a few weeks before we leave. Why Portugal? Why not? And because my mom booked her flight on mileage.
